A local family-run company generously donated thousands of pounds worth of work to refurbish one of the patient rooms at Birmingham Hospice’s Erdington site.
Chester Edwards Interiors, who are based nearby on Spitfire Road, gifted their time, efforts and resources to refurbish Poplar Ward.
A team from the specialist shopfitting business breathed life back into the room, which can hold up to four patients, by completely redecorating it and updating its toilet.

CE Interiors contacted Corporate Fundraising Manager Luke Manley and offered their services as a thank you for the support former director Anthony Mytton and his family received when he became terminally ill.
“I lost my dad two years ago and during that time Birmingham Hospice were very supportive,” said director Richard Mytton.
“The hospice has changed the perception of end-of-life care, so if there was anything we could do, we wanted to help.
“Birmingham Hospice were very supportive for my family and I throughout that period.
“We got in touch with Luke, and he suggested Poplar Ward needed a refresh and we were very happy to help with that.”
The company also supported other projects around the hospice and the overall cost of the work gifted to the hospice is worth approximately £10,000.
Luke said: “A huge thank you to Richard and the team from Chester Edwards Interiors for their support; this is a valuable contribution to the hospice and those that we care for.
“The room has been transformed into a warmer and friendlier space for patients and their loved ones.”
